This Home, designed and being built by Vidana Construction, is styled with traditional Japanese pole house construction using western framing technology.  We've used 14" diameter poles to act as both structural support and to accentuate the home.  There are many windows to take advantage of the breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean and Mauna Kea Mountain.  The home is designed to merge with the landscape using lots of wood finishes and earth tones.  The home is completely off power using photo voltaic power, water catchment system, passive cooling and dehumidification systems and plans to use solar hot water.
During construction we are using a deep cell battery/generator power system to cut down on noise and air pollution.  The batteries store energy for about three days with saws working constantly.  When the batteries are below performance level the generator is then used to operate the power tools and to charge the batteries.  It takes about four hours of operating the generator to recharge the batteries.  Then we can work again with the music of skill saws, sanders, Bach or Iggy Pop.
